Ram Rescue Amador County

On September 1st 2018 several E.T.A. members attended the LRTC Hands-On Emergency Horse and Livestock Handling training in Stagecoach, Nevada. The training covered valuable livestock handling and rescue techniques.

Just a few days later E.T.A. was able to put some of those rescue techniques to use while rescuing a ram who had been stranded at the edge of a pond. While we have yet to find a training covering techniques on boating with livestock (!), we were able to use some of the catch pole and knot tying techniques learned in our training while attempting to swim the ram to safety.

Ultimately the ram was not up for swimming and our E.T.A. members ended up giving him a lift to safety inside the boat. This was a great reminder to expect the unexpected and prepare for things that you would never foresee!
